For Students from SJTU

Students from SJTU just need to send their names and student ID numbers to the International Summer Session Office at isu@sjtu.edu.cn. The credits earned will be counted into their degrees.

For Students from other Chinese Universities

Application procedures are as follow:

1. Complete the application

Please download the Application Form and fill in your personal information. Send both the Application Form and transcript to the International Summer Session Office at isu@sjtu.edu.cn. We will get in touch with you in a few days for discussion about your desired courses.

2. Pay the tuition

You can pay the tuition by bank transfer or in cash. After you have paid the tuition, please upload your confirmation to the website.

3. Confirm the courses

After making the payment, please confirm your selected courses online.

For International Students

Application procedures are as follow:

1. Complete the application

Please download the Application Form and fill in your personal information. Send both the Application Form and transcript to the International Summer Session Office at isu@sjtu.edu.cn. We will get in touch with you in a few days for discussion about your desired courses.

*For international students, they need to download the syllabuses of the courses they intend to select, and request a letter of permission (LOP) from their home universities. After getting the LOP, they need to send a copy to the International Summer Session Office to ensure the future credit transfer.

2. Pay the tuition

You can pay the tuition by bank transfer or in cash. After you have paid the tuition, please upload your confirmation to the website.

3. Confirm the courses

After making the payment, please confirm your selected courses online.

What's more?

International students need to prepare the confirmation letter to apply for visa entering China. If you want to ask for confirmation, please send email to isu@sjtu.edu.cn. For short-term study of abroad programs, it does not need to apply for a student visa (X), and you may apply for a travel visa (L) directly. Please note that the Chinese embassy doesn't accept mails for visa application. And if you need to apply for a Chinese visa, you should submit required forms and information to the nearest Chinese embassy. If you can't go to the embassy to apply for a visa by yourself, you can ask the visa application agency for help to have paid visa application. You may search online “Chinese Visa Service” which can query to such institutions. The following agencies can be for reference:

Shanghai Jiao Tong University International Summer Session welcomes undergraduates from all over the world. Our program requires all students to prove their English language proficiency in the application. The students must be qualified for at least one of the following conditions to pass our English language proficiency requirements.

1. An English native speaker;

2. Studying in or graduated from an institution where English is the major language;

3. Have valid TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) scores which are higher than 80 (IBT) or equivalent scores in other forms of TOEFL tests;

4. Have valid IELTS (International English Language Testing System) scores which are higher than 6.0;

5. (For students in Chinese universities) Passed CET-4 or other equivalent / higher level standard tests;

*If a student cannot fulfill any of the requirements, he/she can contact the admission office for a phone interview to prove his/her English proficiency.

For Students from SJTU and other Chinese Universities
